Happiness Cake is not actually a recipe for something edible. It's a recipe for happiness. Written by my great grandmother, it speaks of biblical happiness found by following Christ and his ways. She passed away when I was little, so I don't know much about her, but I know she was a Godly woman and devoted to the church. I found this "recipe" in the front of a cook book created by her church. The last beautiful words always seem to echo after they've been read and motivate me to focus on others when I'm feeling selfish.

Happiness Cake
1 cup charitable thoughts
1 cup kind deeds
1 cup thoughtfulness
2 cups self-sacrifice
3 cups forgiveness
3 well beaten faults
Blend all ingredients well.
Add teardrops of joy and sorrow and sympathy.
Flavor with love and kindly interest.
Fold gently into 4 cups of prayer and faith.
After pouring all into your daily life, bake in the warmth of human compassion. Serve with a warm smile at any time. It will satisfy the hunger of many a starved heart.
