Perfect for kids and beginners, these cute little lady bugs are easy to make and inexpensive as well. Cut out the felt pieces ahead of time and this project works well for craft time at your next party!
What you need:

Step one:
Cut the top and bottom out of red felt and the head, spots, and wing piece out of black felt.
Step two:
Sew the black pieces to the top red piece with black embroidery floss or an accent color.

Step three:
Thread your needle with red embroidery floss or a different accent color and tie a knot at the end. Pull the needle through the top piece only (the piece with the black felt stitched to it), so that the knot is underneath the top piece.

Step four:
Layer the top and bottom piece and begin whip stitching around the ladybug, making sure to leave a hole for the stuffing.
Step five:
Stuff the ladybug using fiber fill stuffing. Don't have stuffing? Use part of a disposable plastic bag.

Step six:
Continue whip stitching and close up the hole, going all the way to the point where you started. Tie a knot and cut off the excess.
And you're done! If you want to make this a group project, cut out the felt pieces for each child and supply the thread, needles, and stuffing. It helps if a couple adults or older kids are around to help kids who have never sewn before, and I would not advise doing this at a little-kid party. This project was a hit at my sister's party with pre-teen girls.
