I love Star Wars but wasn't loving the perler bead patterns I was finding on the internet. A little bit of experimenting produced this cool light saber and a little more experimenting created a cute barrette. (apologies for the terrible picture) Here's the pattern for all you Star Wars fans!
What you need:

Follow the pattern to the left using blue, green, or red perler beads according to your favorite character's light saber. I am a staunch supporter of the rebel cause, so I didn't even consider a red light saber. : ) Iron the beads and allow to cool. The saber is long and thin, so it will curve easily. Make sure to place a heavy book on top while it's cooling. While your creation is cooling, heat up your hot glue gun. Glue the clip to one side of the light saber. I found that a small strip of felt made it easier to attach the clip, gluing the felt to the beads then the clip to the felt.
And that's it! Here's a few other patterns to try. (these I did not create myself)

especially love the little R2D2 and Yoda
